The name signifies 'Stretching or Lengthened Pasture'.

Name Book 1878.

A single enclosure and a larger three compartment enclosure, which is annotated as a sheepfold, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xiv). The whole site is annotated as a sheepfold on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1988) and it comprises the previous larger enclosure now with four compartments and a double compartmented enclosure attached to it.
