A WW2 type 24 concrete pillbox is situated on the E side of Crail Airfield near the Long Man's Grave on the cliff by the coastal path. The pillbox has walls 40cm thick and with the outer walls which have been reinforced by a further 69cm, increases the total thickness to 109cm. Six loopholes were recorded in the walls, two of which have been blocked. The pillbox faces towards the airfield and was constructed with the purpose of repelling an enemy landing directly on to the runways.

The pillbox is situated in the corner of a field at the extreme SE edge of the airfield. The structure is visible on RAF vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 5, 4079-4080, 14 April 1946).
