Cropmarks have revealed what may be a pit-defined enclosure, together with at least two ring-ditches and a series of pits, to the SE of Soulseat Loch in a field some 400m to the NE of Mahaar steading (NX15NW 103). Subcircular on plan, the enclosure is defined by spaced pits and measures about 40m in diameter. It is plotted as a large ritual enclosure on a distribution map of Neolithic monuments covering southern Scotland.
