For (successor) Cromlix House (NN 78192 06085), see NN70NE 2.00.
NN70NE 4.00 79091 06664 Wester Cambushinnie
Cromlix Castle stood about 800m E of the present house (NN70NE 2.00). Its roof was removed after the failure of the 1715 rebellion, and in the middle of the 19th century its walls were removed to build the present farm steading at Wester Cambushinnie (Eden 1990).
The site of the castle falls in an improved field some 250m SW of Wester Cambushinnie steading. All that remains is a pile of stones measuring 19m in diameter and 1.5m in height. There is a possible building stance, rectangular in shape, on its S side.
Visited by RCAHMS (PJD) 6 May 1992.
