A pit-alignment has been recorded by aerial photography immediately to the SSW of Ardmuir steading. Comprising at least twenty-four pits spread over a distance of about 165m, it runs from the edge of the field at the SW corner of the steading, passes under the present main road and peters out some 32m into the field to the W. The alignment changes direction at least five times along its length, and there are also traces of it emerging into the field immediately to the N of the steading. There is also a detached row of five pits about 130m NE of the steading (NO 1967 4298).

Elsewhere in the fields surrounding Ardmuir steading there are numerous fainter pits and more amorphous markings.
