There are two burnt mounds situated on slight ridges to either side of a boggy gully through which a drain has been cut. The W mound (Nith 165), which is C-shaped, measures 14m from NNE to SSW by 10m transversely and 1.5m in height. A hollow opens out on the NE, and there is a scoop, one side of which is defined by an earthfast slab, in the mouth of the mound, which may indicate the position of a trough. There is a fragment of an earlier mound extending from beneath the S side of the mound. The second mound (Nith 166), measures 16m from N to S by 12m transversely and 1.2m in height. The mound opens out on the E. Upcast from rabbit burrows in both mounds revealed cracked, reddened stone, fragments of charcoal and black soil. (Nith 165, 166)
