The remains of a large stone-walled enclosure (possibly a settlement) are situated on a terrace on a W-facing slope overlooking the policies of Raehill House (NY09SE 42.00). Polygonal on plan, it measures about 61.3m from N to S by 51m transversely within a wall reduced to a turf-covered bank up to 5m in thickness and 0.4m in height. The wall has been constructed in straight lengths but has been heavily robbed. On the N it is overlain by the footings of a field-wall, and a trench (possibly an archaeological excavation trench) has been driven through it. The entrance, which is slightly inturned, lies on the E. Much of the interior and the area outside the entrance is waterlogged, and the wall on the E side barely rises above the level of the accumulated peat.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 27 March 1991.

Listed as settlement.
