Low structure, over the Nith, with skew-spans. 1850, for the Glasgow, Dumfries and Carlisle Rly by John Miller, perhaps the finest designer of masonry viaducts of all time.

This bridge carries the Carlisle-Glasgow ('Nith valley') route of the former Glasgow and South Western Rly over the River Nith to the N of Dumfries (NX97NE 98) and to the E of Lincluden. The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Holywood (to the N) and Dumfries (to the S).

The location assigned to this record defines the midpoint of the structure. The available map evidence indicates that it extends from NX c. 97334 77877 to NX c. 97354 77808.
