A much corroded dupondius or as of Marcus Aurelius minted A.D. 161-2, was found in 1951 by Mr. Rennie, Station House, Auldgirth, when cutting peat near the station, on the line of the Roman road (RR 77) and within a few hundred yards at most of Barburgh Mill road post (NX98NW 2). It is now in Dumfries Museum.
