NX16NE 133 centred 153 661.

Fragments of an extensive field system buried beneath the peat are visible on the E flank of Craigengale. Immediately above the ruins of the farmhouse of Fauld stane (NX16NE 43) there are traces of thick stony banks defining the upper edges of at least two large fields/enclosures (NX 1538 6617 to 1514 6647). Further lengths of stony bank and a scatter of clearance heaps are visible on the NE-facing slope about 100m to the N (NX 151 666), and another short length of stony bank emerges from beneath the peat on the shoulder of Craigengale 100m to the W (NX 1509 6625). Another stony bank is visible at the E end of a low ridge to the N of the summit of Craigengale (NX 1501 6638 to 1502 6636).

RCAHMS 1987, visited (SH) March 1986.
