This large farmstead was formerly of complex plan, consisting of numerous ranges and various detached buildings and yards that are depicted on the 2nd edition OS 25-inch map (East Lothian, 1892-3, sheet 11/3). When visited in 2000 very little of the old buildings had survived but sufficient remained to show that they had been of pink sandstone with pantile roofs.

Information from RCAHMS (SS), 16 February 2006.
