Near the former mansion there is a dovecot in the upper part of a square building 14 by 14ft with a pointed slate roof; dressed stone walls 2ft thick with one string course, two windows, possibly once glazed; twelve entry holes in a row below the eaves; 156 nests.

A second dovecot at Thurston has been demolished in recent years.
