(NT 7830 1403) Enclosure (NR)

OS 6"map, (1962).

This "scooped enclosure" (RCAHMS 1956) on the SW slope of Kielhope Law measures about 160' in either direction, and has been overrun by cultivation. Within it there are traces of three floors at the back, a central terrace with a bank across the N side, and a lower court divided into two, an arrangement very similar to that found at NT23SW 7, which is now recognised (RCAHMS 1967) as a settlement of Early Iron Age date. A circular foundation 7' in internal diameter is situated at the S side of the central terrace.

RCAHMS 1956; 1967.

As described above.

Visited by OS(WDJ) 8 September 1960.

No change.

Visited by OS(BS) 1 September 1976.
