NT71SW 24 740 118.

A farm house is all that remains of the ancient village of Plenderleith, which stood near the source of the Oxnam Water. (Plenderleith Farm: NT 740 118)

Orig Paroch Scot 1851.

(This is probably a reference to the farmstead at NT71SW 20, the only example located in the area. A significant proportion of the ground around Plenderleith shows traces of rig and furrow, although this is not uncommon in the locality.)

'Robert I granted to William Wishart in 1328 x 1329 that he should hold his lands of Prenderleith {sic} (formerly held of the earl of Angus) of the crown, and should hold the villa of Prenderleith in liberum burgum. It may be doubted whether the burgh had a real existence.'

G S Pryde 1965.
