NT53NE 33 centred 5736 3520.

NT 5736 3520 (centre). Roman Temporary Camp, Drygrange: visible on air photographs.

(Undated) information in NMRS.

N from Newstead is the camp at Drygrange on steeply-sloping ground immediately overlooking the left bank of the River Tweed. Some 550m of the NW side and 170m of the NE, together with the intervening rounded angle, have been recorded; there are two entrances in the NW side, of which one at least, is covered by a traverse. Consideration of the available ground suggests that the cross-dimension is at least 230m and could even exceed 300m, in which case the area enclosed might be as much as 16.5 ha (40 acres).
