NT46SW 66 At 430 614. LIN 13.

Formerly LIN 525.

See also NT46SW 54, NT46SW 55, NT46SW 63, NT46SW 69, NT46SW 85 for possible route of road.

Two sections were dug by George Watson's College Archaeological Society. Both revealed traces of a road which was 13ft wide and consisted of two layers. Small pebbles formed the top 5in layer and the bottom layer of larger stones was 9ins thick. These were bound together by large amounts of sandy gravel. The road had a very sharp kerb.

J M Gilbert 1965.

This excavation falls on the possible line of the King's Road where it crosses Fala Dam Brae. It is not known whether the excavation confirms or refutes this as the course of the road.

Information from RCAHMS (DE) August 1995.
