Remodelled by W.W. Robertson, 1892-4. Side blocks by W.T.Oldrieve and C.J.W. Simpson, 1914-16.

International competition to convert building to National Gallery of Scottish Art and Design won by Page & Park, 1996; scheme abandoned following funding problems. Converted to No 1 Glasgow, a #45m retail and leisure complex by Hugh Martin Partnership, 2000.
