An Ordnance Survey triangulation station marker was found in December 1976 lying on the surface of the ground which had been ploughed for tree planting within the fort on West Whitecastle Farm (NT04SW 10). It probably dates from the original survey of the area in 1853. The stone is in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS).

Information from J Close-Brooks, NMAS, 1977.
