(NT 1378 4409) Kirkurd Church (NR) (rems of)
OS 6" map (1968)
This was no doubt occupied by successive churches from as early as the 12th century, when the church of "Orde" first comes on record, to 1766, when the present church was erected (at NT 1276 4426). The only surviving structure is a roughly built cell, now mostly covered with earth and tree roots; this measures internally 13' 11" N-S x 13' 9" E-W, and is covered by a pointed barrel-vault. The remains, which may be those of a burial aisle, are unlikely to belong to a period earlier than the 16th century.
RCAHMS 1967, visited 1964
The much reduced remains of the burial aisle are as described by RCAHMS.
Visited by OS (JTT) 20 July 1964 and (SFS) 29 October 1974
