(NT 1035 4023) Enclosure (NR)

OS 6" map (1968)

The feature depicted is the larger of a pair of ring enclosures, 6' apart; it is 65' in internal diameter, while the other is 30' in internal diameter.

(Information from A McLaren notebook 2, 9)

RCAHMS 1967, visited 1962

These enclosures are situated on flat ground at the S end of a ridge. The larger measures 22.0m within a small earthen bank c. 1.5m wide and 0.4m high. The interior is featureless and there is no apparent entrance. The other enclosure, to the NE, has been mutilated and is unsurveyable, but appears to consist of an earthen bank c. 10.0m across within which is a somewhat amorphous mound with a deep hollow in the centre.

The purpose of these enclosures is not clear.
