Dunnardry Locks [NAT] (centred NR 8196 9116)

OS 1:10,000 map, 1989.

There is the roofless shell of a three-bay boat-shed on the S side of this lock, probably designed to accommodate the passenger steamer 'Linnet', which was in service on the canal between 1866 and 1929.

RCAHMS 1992.

This lock is clearly visible on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1873, sheet clx) and on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1900, sheet clxNE). It is clearly marked as Lock No.9 on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1989) and on the OS 1:10000 raster map (ND). The boathouse and dock are visible to the S of the lock, the double dock opening out of the E end of Dunardry East Basin (NR89SW 79).

Information from RCAHMS (MD), 21 June 2001.
