The grant of Straiton church to Paisley Abbey by Duncan, Earl of Carrick, was confirmed by Florence, Bishop-elect of Glasgow (1202-6).

The church of Straiton parish, dedicated to St Cuthbert, was rebuilt in 1758, only the 13th-14th century S aisle being preserved. The large, traceried window in the S gable is 16th century.
