Extends onto mapsheet NT06SE.

This reservoir and dam are recorded on vertical air photography (OS/65/50/074, flown 1965). Situated on the headwaters of the Water of Leith, to the W of the steading NT16SW 20 and across the boundary between the parishes of Kirknewton and Mid Calder, they serve to transfer water from an extensive catchment area on the northern slopes of the Pentland Hills for use in the public water supply for Edinburgh.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 3 November 1998.
