John Cook has examined George Smith's (Architect 1793-1877) plans and approved of them. Subscriptions are sought from Princes Street residents who will benefit from the improvement. The drawing shows the Mound soon after it was constructed with the collection of structures that occupied the site until 1850; these included a menagerie, rotunda and workshop.
