The site of a barrage balloon mooring point is situated in an improved field immediately to the NE of Swartland Cottage. There is no evidence of the concrete anchorage points, these having been removed to form part of the sea defences along the shore immediately S of the cottages (ND 3033 9220). Many of the concrete blocks with the steel mooring rings are visible along the shore. The barrage balloon site is visible on vertical air phtotgraphs (RAF LEU/UK 4, pt.1 7022-23, flown 1948).
