This monument was erected by the American Red Cross (presumably in the 1920's) to commemorate the losses of the American troopships Turcania (torpedoed off the Mull) [Tuscania: NR14SE 8001] and Otranto (NR16SE 8001) (wrecked at Kilchiaran), both in 1918.
