While trenching and levelling a field at Ravensby for garden ground, at a spot where the sub-soil had been previously disturbed and mixed with charcoal and small bone fragments, were found 7 perforated clay loomweights. Next to them was part of a small enclosure like a fire- place, formed by stones on edge. 2 of the loomweights were donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) by J Neish in 1871 (Accession no. NMS BG 23-4).

J Neish 1873.
