A dam containing Loch of Lintrathen Reservoir, which has supplied the city of Dundee with water since 1875. Water is stored in the Backwater Reservoir 4km to the N of Loch of Lintrathen, which connected to Loch of Lintrathen by the Back Water'. The water leaves Loch of Lintrathen through sluices at Bridgend of Lintrathen, heading S past Lintrathen Mill towards Dundee in the 'Melgam Water', which joins the River Isla 3 km to the S at Airlie Castle.
