NO21NW 22 c. 244 178.

A massive finger-ring of gold was found at Clachard when the railway was being made. The letters cut upon it are so rude that they have all the appearance of being Runic. An impression of the seal was sent to Professor Stephens of Copenhagen, who has given his opinion that the ring is mediaeval, and that the inscription is I,H.S. --- Jesus Hominis Salvator. The ring is in the Perth Museum. (The railway was built c. 1846)

A Laing 1876.
