For field-system at cited location (centred NN 8424 1028) within the area of this temporary camp, see NN81SW 21.

Examination of the remains of eighteenth-century field boundaries, marked on Roy's plan and still visible within the annexe, has led to the recognition of a rampart and ditch forming part of the south and west sides, and the rounded south-west angle of an enclosure. The resemblance to the defences of a temporary camp has now been confirmed by digging, which established the north-to-south dimension of the camp as 710ft. to this, an extension of 140 feet had later been added on the south side.

J K St Joseph 1976.

Scheduled as 'a large area defended by an upstanding rampart and ditch, thought to be an annexe to the fort' [NN80NW 10] and ' within 'Ardoch, Roman military complex 900m NNE of Ardoch Bridge...'
