NLO: Freswick Bay [name: ND 383 675].

Dunnet, by Thurso, 23rd Aug. The PERSEVERANCE (barque), of St. John, N.B., Wills, from Dundee to Miramichi (partly coal-laden), in entering the Pentland Firth yesterday during a thick fog, ran ashore in Freswick Bay, and remains, making a good deal of water: sails and a portion of the rigging have been saved.

Huna, 2nd Sept. The PERSEVERANCE, Wills, from Dundee to Miramichi, which ran ashore in Freswick Bay 22nd Aug., was yesterday surveyed and condemned. [Record received incomplete].

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
