(NM 5455 4964) Cairn (NR)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1976)

At this spot there is a kerb-cairn (previously noted as a stone circle-a, b) measuring 5.3 m in diameter by 0.5 m high. As at Strontoiller (NM92NW 7) the larger stones of the kerb, the highest of which is 1.1 m, are on the W rim. The centre has been dug into to expose what may be the side slabs of a cist and a large flat stone on the top is possibly a capstone.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

J W Judd 1875; J Duns 1883; Visited by OS (R D) 13 May 1972.

This kerb-cairn is situated on the summit of a low ridge in a field 335m NNW of Ardnacross; its dimensions are as given by OS field investigator. Several of the kerb-stones on the N and E sides now slope outwards. The hollow in the centre indicates recent disturbance.

RCAHMS 1980.
