Site recorded during a rapid coastal survey undertaken by GUARD of the S shore of the Firth of Forth from Dunbar to Stirling and along the N shore of the Forth to the Fife border. A gazetteer of all sites including listed buildings, designed landscapes, scheduled and unscheduled monuments was produced. GUARD 1996

An area 40 by 15 metres is enclosed by a low drystone wall. There has been some damage by rabbit burrows.

Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 10th March 1996.

There has been some damage by people climbing over the wall and eroding the ground on the downhill side. (The island is conspicuous in the absence of most animal life. An occasional mouse has been seen by dog walkers, but no rabbits have ever been seen by regular visitors, nor are there any known burrows. This absence of animals has been remarked on over the centuries by various island residents and holiday makers).
