This distillery was founded in 1826 by the Glendronach Distillery Co. partnership headed by James Allardes (Allardyce). The distillery changed hands several times and was sold in 1960 to William Teacher and Sons Ltd. The site was operated by Teacher (Distillers) Ltd in 1981. The distillery was extended from two to four stills in 1966-7, had coal fired stills and floor malting. It was still licensed to the Glendronach Distillery Co. Ltd. in 1981.
