Lighthouse (Fixed Red & White) [NAT] (at NO 41453 30460)

OS GIS ep. 2.

(Dundee 2 and 3: location cited as NO 414 304). At entrance to Camperdown Dock, now in traffic island: c. 1863-5. Pair of cylindrical cast-iron towers with vertical-pane windows and domed tops surmounted by ball ventilators with weather vanes.

Plaques read 'Munro & Co, Engineers, Arbroath & Dundee'. Removed in late 1980's.

J R Hume 1997.

The structures noted by Hume are presumably to be equated with the 'lighthouses' that are noted by GIS ep. 2. Their present location cannot be established from the available map evidence.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 18 April 2006.
