The steel-truss replacement [of NS66SE 63] is, also supported on masonry piers, and is immediately downstream.

This viaduct carries the Motherwell - Glasgow portion of the (London, Euston - Glasgow) West Coast Main Line (WCML) across the River Clyde between Uddingston and Newton, at a location named Chapel Eddy. The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Bothwell (to the E) and Hamilton (to the W).
The location assigned to this record is derived from that of the predecessor. The new viaduct cannot be distinguished on the available maps, and may reuse the earlier piers. It was presumably built in the early 1970's, as part of the pre-electrification reconstruction of the northern part of the WCML.

Vertical air photographs record a new viaduct immediately N of NS66SE 63.00, and apparently set on the same piers. The nature of its construction is not apparent, but the trackbed has been realigned and the line electrified.
This viaduct presumably dates from the early 1970's, when the WCML was electrified.
