OS 6" map, (1959)

This was the site of Rosemarkie market cross. It was destroyed about 1835. It consisted of an octagonal sandstone slab, with a cap, standing on a plinth about 6' square and 2' high.

A J Beaton 1885.

The cross was still standing at the date of composition of the New Statistical Account (1839). This describes it as 'an ancient shaft of stone, forming the Cross of Rosemarkie, and bearing as capital a ducal crown'.
