Centre Shaft [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1989.

Opposite the centreline of the embankment there is a second shaft, at the bottom of which a send plug has been built. Pipes pass through this, and the shaft contains the necessary valves to control the water in the vent of an accident occurring to the plug and valves of the inner shaft.
