Reference: T C Welsh notes "NC 566 646. On SW bank of tributary of Strath Melness Burn, c. 50m from road, remains of a corn mill 8 x 5.5m infilled lade. One millstone extant, 1.2m diameter, 170mm thick, of coarse red sandstone. 95m of mill channels drawing from two sources". "Discovery and Excavation in Scotland" (1973), 56.

Reference: Ordnance Survey (NKB) note dated 15/9/1977. "This corn mill is shown as roofed on old series 25" at NC 5667 6460." OS card-

The ruinous remains of a sub-rectangular drystone horizontal mill with what appears to be the lower millstone in situ. The structure is clearly in use at the time of the 1st edition OS.
