A prisoner-of-war camp has been identified from postwar vertical air photograhs (RAF 106G/UK 986, 3107-3109, 4107-4108, flown 9 November 1945 and 106G/UK1262, 7001-7002, flown 21 March 1946) in an area S of Ayr now built over by the Doonfoot housing estate.

The vertical air photographs show a triangular layout to the camp with the staff accommodation at the NE end. The perimeter fence with guard towers are clearly visible on the photographs and the main gate shows evidence of the additional security arrangements.
