This disused quarry is situated close to the W edge of a field of rough pasture about 230m S of Thrumster Mains farmsteading. It has been dug into the E-face of a low rise and is now marked by a ragged exposure of bedrock measuring about 1.2m in height and 68m in length from NNE to SSW. The quarry is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
