A type 22 pillbox has been identified from RAF WWII vertical air photographs (106G L/NLA, 20.03.1945, 4007-8), on the seaward side of the esplanade at a point where it meets Wellington Street. The pillbox adjoins two small groups of anti-tank pimples which are protecting the gaps in the esplanade wall.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), December 2000.

Nothing is now visible of this pillbox, which stood on the seaward side of the esplanade at Aberdeen Bay. Like most of the other pillboxes that were situated on the beach front at Aberdeen, it was probably removed soon after the Second World War. Hexagon on plan, it was of type-22 design (Wills 1985).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 5 December 2001.
