The farmstead of Westerhouse comprises the largely upstanding remains of four conjoined unroofed stone buildings, one of which is a dwelling, together with a yard and an enclosure. The dwelling is aligned NE-SW with a second building parallel to it on its SE side. A range of two smaller buildings lie perpendicular to the dwelling on its SE side. A plan of the farmstead was sketched by June Owers in her survey of deserted settlements in Unst (1975).
