(Location entered as NO c. 881 848 [N56 57.3 W2 11.7]). The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Both the location and date cited by Whittaker evidently refer to the reported discovery of wreckage, which most probably derived from a vessel which foundered and broke up offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters.

Strathlethan, Strathlethen or Strathleven Bay is a pronounced indentation to the South of Stonehaven. It is fringed by extensive rock exposures.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 30 October 2001.
