Designed by Sydney Mitchell c.1890. Square red brick former nurses home, built around a central courtyard with two-storey central section with Dutch gable and corner towers with mansard roofs. Built in red brick, a slight rarity in the more familiar exterior stonework of the city and in the Queen Anne style, popular in the late C19.

Demolished as part of the Quartermile project, though originally to have survived. One tower and cupola have since been rebuilt near to the original site.

Information from RCAHMS (CAJS) 2007.
