Standing figure of Adam Black in a fur-trimmed cloak (official robe of Lord Provost of the City), left hand on hip, scroll in right hand held to his chest; on a stone pedestal carved by Robert Thomson.

Adam Black, born Edinburgh 1784. Politician and publisher. Twice Lord Provost of Edinburgh 1843-1848. Died 1874.
