A pair of eight-sided piers, each topped by a unicorn rampant sejant with staff and pennant, flank the entrance to The Meadows. Gilded pennant held by unicorn on right has openwork lion rampant. The left unicorn is missing its pennant and metal shaft, and its horn is shorter than the other unicorn's. [Has it been broken off ?]. Both unicorns are now merging into the trees, especially the left one.

Inscriptions : On right unicorn's ribbon (raised letters): NISI DOMINUS FRU[STRA]

On left unicorn's ribbon (raised letters): [NEMO] ME IMPUNE LA[CESSIT]

Signatures : None

Design period : 1850
