RCAHMS visited Brough House and surrounding buildings in July 2001 as part of its Threatened Buildings Survey because the house had fallen into a state of severe neglect over the previous decade. When visited the house was only partially roofed and props had needed to be inserted to support some of the ceilings. The building appeared to be unsafe to enter.
