Castlehill, 202 Nithsdale Road, 1870, Alexander Thomson

Long, low, skilfully massed asymmetrical villa. The austere unadorned exterior, lacking cosy domesticity, suits the present use by St Ronan's Prep School. However, much of the original idiosyncratic interior decoration does survive inside, including the Greek motif etched on glass doors and stylised daisies on cornices

Taken from "Greater Glasgow: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Sam Small, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
