Jock's Hill, Jock's Hill Crescent, 1932

Red rosemary-tiling and dominated by a corbelled brick chimney. Asymmetry of a later extension has given the house an Arts & Crafts appearance. 16 Jock's Hill Crescent, 1988, J McFadyen, is a swaggeringly Swiss, brick and deep-red tiled villa with three tiers of dark-stained timber balconies clustered around its central chimneystack. Huge steeply sloping roof ties all together into the wooded hillside.

Taken from "West Lothian: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Stuart Eydmann, Richard Jaques and Charles McKean, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
